The seminar will be held on Saturday 1st April 2017 at 11am in the Dursley Methodist Church Meeting Room.

The Community Heartbeat Trust will be demonstrating the use of defibrillators and explaining how the equipment works and its benefits to the community in saving precious minutes in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. The more people that know how to use the portable defibrillator installed in the old telephone kiosk in Castle Street, the more chance there is of saving the life of a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Everyone is welcome, and no special skills are required, just a willingness to play an important role in the event of a medical emergency.

The entry fee, which includes light refreshments, is £2 for members and £3 for non-members.

Background information:

Alan Pilbeam , a well-known author and speaker on the Gloucestershire landscape, has used as his theme for his latest book, old paths. As he states in the introduction there are a number of questions worth asking such as – when was a particular footpath formed? why was it there? who used it? and what did the travellers see along the route? In answering these questions he suggests we may be able to appreciate more clearly the making of the landscape and develop new insights into life long ago.

EASTER 2017

Dragons Discovered at Berkeley Castle!

Tweet: Experience the magic of dragons at @BerkeleyCastle this #Easter! www.berkeley-castle.com #Daysout #Glos

Hot on the tail of opening its doors for the new season on 2 April, Berkeley Castle invites you to celebrate Easter with a spectacular dragon themed weekend from Friday 14 – Monday 17 April.

Following the 'roaring' success of last year's thrilling Dragon extravaganza, this Easter's activities are set to delight visitors of all ages with the opportunity to experience more fantastic dragon puppetry, get face-to-face with a baby dragon, and take part in the colourful Chinese Dragon Parade.

For those looking for a unique twist to the usual Easter egg hunt, there's the chance to prove your tracking skills and help Dickie the Jester find the newly hatched 'dragon babies' hidden amid the Castle grounds. Catch them all and claim your reward – a delicious Easter treat, then enter the magnificent Great Hall and sit captivated by the Dragon Tales.

There will also be the chance to become immersed in the fascinating history of the castle with guided tours of the Castle's rooms, revealing intriguing facts from the 12th century to the present day. Make this feeling really come alive in the dressing-up area as you transform yourself into royalty or people of the court. Or maybe even a Dragon!

Free Easter themed Arts & Crafts workshops will also be available throughout whole of the school holidays. Indeed, all activities and entertainments provided are included in the normal Castle admission fee making it a very special and excellent value day out.

Charles Berkeley, who heads up the Berkeley Castle team, says: "We are delighted to once again open our doors for another season to share the significant and compelling history of the Castle and the Berkeley family – a relationship that spans nine centuries. Together with our brilliant team, we have organised a superb series of events to entertain and educate families of all ages, and our Easter weekend is no exception. We very much look forward to providing a warm welcome and a wonderful experience for many more visitors in 2017".

Berkeley Castle is open for the full Easter weekend, Friday 14 – Monday 17 April.
