Stroud District Local Plan Review

The Government wants all local authorities to review their local plans every 5 years. Although the current Plan was approved in November 2015, an early review will ensure that it remains up-to-date and meets future needs for the 20 year period 2016-2036. Plans can take up to 5 years to produce and so it is important that we start now.

Stroud District Council are holding drop-in sessions and exhibitions around the District during October and early November. You will be able to chat to officers working on the Local Plan review, find out more about the issues affecting Stroud District and give your initial views. They will be held in the following locations:

DursleyMethodist Hall, Castle Street

Saturday 11th November, 9.30 – 12.30pm

CamParish Council OfficeThursday 16th November, 3pm – 6.30pm

Dursley Farmers Market

Dursley Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday of each month, except January and February. A good range of high quality and local produce is available from stalls manned by local producers.

Stalls include fresh farm meats, prize winning jams and preserves, country cheeses, small batch baked bread, free range eggs, home baked cakes, home made sweets and plants for all seasons.

The market runs from 8.30am to 1pm and teas, coffees and home made cakes are served in the Town Hall. If you are interested in running a stall, contact the market co-ordinator, Rosie Coates on 07721 727017 or dursleyfarmersmarket@talktalk.net.

The next meeting of the Dursley & Cam Society will take place on Tuesday, 14th November in the Town Hall, Dursley at 7-30 p.m. The speaker, Mr Ray Wilson, will be giving a talk on "R.A. Lister - based on rescued archive material".

All are welcome to attend and the entrance fee, which includes light refreshments, is £2 for members and £3 for non-members.

World Jungle's Jane Manning will be sharing top tips on how to cook amazing Gluten free (and grain free) recipes from bread to cakes as well showing you some fantastic alternatives to wheat, barley and rye. She will also go into the science behind gluten and why all of us need to try and consume less. So whether you are celiac, have a wheat/gluten allergy or just looking for some healthier alternatives this workshop will give you all need and more.

Kick the Cat

The Chantry Centre will play host to one of the most popular showbands in the South West – 'Kick the Cat'.

'Kick the Cat' is an eight-piece band playing a fantastic mix of soul, rhythm & blues, disco, Motown and funk – and are widely known for their tribute to the Blue Brothers.

Mark Prowse from The Chantry Centre says "The band played here a couple of years ago and the response from local residents who came along was fantastic, as this entertaining band will make you want to get up and dance and provides a great night out.

We're running the evening as a joint venture with Kick the Cat and hope it will be the first of many… so please buy your tickets in advance".

Tickets £10 per person and are available to buy online at www.chantrycentre.org or from the Chantry Centre.

Doors will open at 7.30pm, with band on stage at 9pm.
