Apprentice Grounds Person Opportunity

Dursley Town Council provides local services to the town of Dursley and the surrounding area, striving to make it a better place to live, work and play for the local community.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Dursley Town Council for an Apprentice Grounds Person to join this dynamic and close-knit team.The successful apprentice will be working with the existing Grounds team, working in a range of locations across the town.

The position will involve a range of duties, including:

·Hedge trimming
·Strimming
·Mowing
·Cemetery maintenance and management
·Play Park grounds and equipment maintenance and routine inspections
·Litter collecting
·Soft landscaping – planting
·Working with the Britain in Bloom organisation

This position will involve working outdoors in all weathers; 37 hours per week and the role involves working mornings at weekends, once per month.

The applicant must be within 16-24 years old. The apprenticeship will be for a 24-month period, and will start at £3.40 per hour, with salary increases following a successful probationary period and 12-month review.

The apprenticeship will include studying and creating a portfolio for a Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture which will be overseen by our training partnership organisation; YMCA Training Ltd.
