Statement from the Town Mayor issued 8th September 2022

On behalf of Dursley Town Council and of the residents of Dursley, I would like to express the heart felt sadness at hearing the news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II had passed away today - Thursday 8th September 2022.

Her Majesty the Queen committed her whole life to public duty, her hard work and devotion to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth was both remarkable and inspirational.

I send our sincere condolences to all members of the Royal Family. The great loss of Her Majesty the Queen will be felt by millions across the UK and around the world.

Books of Condolence

Books of condolence are open from Friday, 9 September for people to pay
tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.

They will be available to sign during usual opening hours at the following
locations:

• The Pulse, Castle Street.
Open from 6am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday.

• Dursley Town Council, Jacob's House, Castle Street
Open from10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Saturday 10th September 10am to 12noon.

• St James The Great Church.

Floral Tributes

Those wishing to lay floral tributes can do so on the grassed area to the front of St James Church. Please remove cellophane or plastic before doing so.

After the funeral the flowers will be collected and composted. The compost will be used to fertilise a tree which will be planted in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by the Town Mayor at a suitable location in Dursley.

Proclaiming the new Monarch

A local proclamation of the new monarch will take place in Dursley by the Town Hall.
