Cycling in Gloucestershire

Wed, 06 Jul 2022 15:00

Gloucestershire county council are working with Sustrans, to connect people and places across the county with safe and accessible routes for everyone.

A better connected cycling network across Gloucestershire would enable more people to get on their bikes and switch to an active mode of transport.

Your views will help form the long-term ambitions for cycling in the county. Whether you are a keen cyclist or a family who occasionally cycle for leisure, we want to better understand the barriers preventing you from getting on your bikes.
To give your views, you can visit our Dursley workshop:

3pm-7pm on Wednesday 6 July at the Dursley Community Centre, Rednock Drive, Dursley, GL11 4BX

SARA Sharpness Lifeboat Station Open Day: Sunday 17th July

Sun, 17 Jul 2022 10:00

The crew and volunteers of SARA's Sharpness Lifeboat Station are holding their Open Day on Sunday 17th July. The volunteers of this fantastic local charity need your help and support so that they can continue their important work – going to search-and-rescue emergencies in all weathers and at any time of the day/night, 365 days a year.

Our lifeboat crews need many skills and we will be demonstrating these on the day. You can try your hand too – what is it like to experience a high-speed ride on the River Severn in one of the bigger lifeboats? This is great opportunity to meet the crew, talk to them and get a real understanding of their great work.

There will be a fantastic range of activities to entertain the whole family. Children love the excitement of lifeboats and the Open Day will be a day for them to remember. Kids' activities include: lifeboat rides on our lake; the opportunity to clamber over our bigger lifeboats and talk to the brave crews who search and rescue; challenges for kids and their grown-ups; kids' quizzes; burgers, cakes and soft drinks! There are quite a few things for adults to do and see as well!

So, please come along and support the lifeboat crew at The Old Dock, Sharpness, GL13 9UB. Doors open at 10am on the Sunday morning and we expect to finish about 5pm. Parking and entry are free.
