New Grit Bins

At the most recent meeting of the Town Improvements Committee meeting the Councillors agreed to purchase three new grit bins for the town.

The new locations have been approved by Amey, who are the highways contractor appointed by Gloucestershire County Council. GCC/Amey will only supply the grit for new grit bins if they meet the criteria.

GCC policy states "Grit Bins shall only be located at strategic points on steeper inclines and on some tight bends or if there is significant levels of pedestrian usage. Grit bins will only be provided on key (gritting) routes in exceptional circumstances".

The locations, requested by local residents and approved by Amey are Cedar Drive, the junction of Whiteway Close/Rangers Avenue and the junction of St David's Crescent/Beechwood Rise.

The new bins have now been ordered and the Town Council will liaise with Amey to have them installed and supplied as soon as possible.
