Long Stay Car Park Update (November 2018)
Dursley Town Council can now confirm that our Civil Engineering contractor Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd will commence work on the car park construction on the week commencing Monday 26th November 2018.
The scheme had been delayed due to the requirement for a planning amendment permission and a legal agreement for a new retaining wall which had not been part of the original design. These permissions are now in place and works will commence up to the beginning of the festive period. Our contractors will return in early January and are aiming for the construction works to be completed in mid-February 2019.
The site construction works will take place between 8:30am and 4:30pm on Monday to Friday, in accordance with our planning conditions.
The Mayor, Cllr Neil Grecian commented "I am pleased we now have dates for the construction period programmed and I look forward to the car park becoming operational in February. This is easily the most ambitious project undertaken by the Town Council and will be an asset for the whole town. Our contractors will keep disruption to a minimum, but we would ask all nearby residents to refrain from obstructing the entrance to the car park during this construction phase".
The 46-space long stay car park will be free to use, with a maximum waiting limit of 23 hours in a 24-hour period. Penalties will be issued for any vehicles overstaying this limit, with the usage being monitored by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera.
