Leslie D Gale Awards 2019

The recipients of the 2019 Leslie D Gale awards were announced by the Mayor, Cllr Neil Grecian at the Dursley Annual Assembly.

The Leslie D Gale Award for service to the community, first awarded in 1994, was presented to Mike Doughty and David Durden.

Mike was presented the award for many year of volunteering with a range of groups in the town, including the Town Trust, Dursley Welcomes Walkers, Vale Vison and serving on the Town Council.

David received the award for his substantial contribution to Dursley Running Club, since taking over as Chairman in 2013.

The "Unsung Hero" awards were presented to Pauline Darby who has been volunteering for more than 30 years with the Friday Lunch Club and Christine Baker for volunteering and supporting children and young families, including setting up the first Rainbow Guides Group in Cam during the 1990's.

Doris Holbrook and Gwyneth Peglar were announced as joint recipients for running the Friendship Club over the last twenty years. They will receive their award soon.
