Lions Club of Dursley - Tree Planting Event

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mandy Woodward, joined school children from Dursley C of E Primary Academy, Cam Hopton, Cam Everlands and Cam Woodfields, as well as members of the 649 (Dursley) Squadron ATC cadets, to plant trees at the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting event on 9th December.

The event was organised by the Lions Club of Dursley and involved planting 70 trees on Stroud District Council's land off Harrolds Close, to commemorate Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

Town and District Councillors Loraine Patrick and Councillor Doina Cornell were also in attendance.

With the guidance of a tree expert who works with Bristol City Council, the children learnt some interesting facts about trees and how to prepare the ground before planting their own on the day.

We would like to thank all those involved in the event, everyone worked extremely hard in cold conditions. We look forward to watching the trees grow over the years to come.
