Leslie D Gale Awards 2023

On Friday 28th April 2023, the Mayor Cllr Symon Ackroyd visited "Durcans" to present the Leslie D Gale certificate to Mr Phil Durcan. The Durcan family have owned a hardware shop in the town since 1957 with the current shop in Parsonage Street being occupied since 1977. Phil began working in the shop at 16 years old and retired in 2019 and has provided service to the community for many years.

As one of Cllr Ackroyd's last mayoral duty he also visited Hewitt's sweet shop to present a Mayoral certificate to Janet and Lee Burfrey for their services to Dursley residents. Jan has worked in the shop for over 53 years taking over from her father. The Mayor, Councillors and Staff of Dursley Town Council would like to wish Jan and Lee a long and happy retirement.
