Dursley Town Council: Press Statement

Dursley Town Council would like to respond to the recent press and social media following our decision to host both the Dursley Town AFC Girls tournament and Rogers Fair at the War Memorial Recreation Ground.

The Town Councillors are extremely saddened to read some of the comments in the Gazette and the accusation that the decision was taken because "girls football is not a priority for them". This is a completely false accusation, with Dursley Town Council supporting all youth football hosted at the War Memorial Recreation Ground in equal measures.

Dursley Town Council make no charge for any youth football hosted by Dursley Town AFC on the War Memorial Recreation Ground and we have supported grant applications for all elements of Dursley Town AFC.

Dursley Town Council will be making no further comments on this matter, other than to wish the Dursley Girls teams a successful tournament.
