Dursley War Memorial

Dursley War Memorial

The World War II Memorial has been relocated within the recreation ground and a dedicated area created as a Memorial Garden for remembrance and reflection for all, in time for this year's Remembrance events. A ceremony took place on Saturday 18th October including Reverend Dr Juliet Jensen and Dursley Town Mayor Councillor Dr Alex Stennett. Also taking part were members of the Army, Navy and Air Force Cadets along with the Dursley & Cam Royal British Legion who were instrumental in raising funds for creating the garden as a Memorial and to also ensure that veterans would have somewhere to sit during Remembrance Sunday and for anyone to go and sit and reflect. Two members of the US Air Force who were killed when their Mosquito plane crashed near Dursley in 1944, will also be commemorated with two little plaques on the memorial to remember them as well.
